Optometrists
Description: Optometrists examine people's eyes to diagnose vision problems and eye diseases. They prescribe glasses and contact lenses and treat certain eye diseases. Some optometrists work especially with the elderly or children. Others develop ways to protect workers' eyes from on-the-job strain or injury. Many are selfemployed and work Saturdays and evenings to meet their patients' schedules.
