They also install showers, sinks, toilets, and appliances. Pipelayers, pipefitters, and steamfitters install and repair the pipe systems used in manufacturing, creating electricity and heating and cooling buildings. These workers may work nights and weekends, or be on call 24 hours a day. They must be strong enough to lift heavy pipes. Many are self-employed.
