The Mathcounts chapter competition is coming up on Febuary 10 (Atleast in Michigan). So how many people are on the team?

That's a math challenge thing that has questions and levels. It can help you practice for Mathcounts.

Base Camp Tau is surprisingly easy!

I know, most of the problems are easy;-)

Is Tau the one for our Math club Competitive team?

Sillysidley

No, some people think of the problems. it's not on any website(otherwise it would be too easy)

I mean, is it supposed to be at the same level?

Sillysidley

Maybe state level (State was the level the entering test was for math club).

Humph. Big difference.

Good news! Boulan came 2nd in the chapter competition!
I got a cool trophy! The 4 members in the team get the trophy, and the other 6 don't get anything except a certificate:icon_crying: That's the sad part.

Temperal

The really sad part is oh, about 200 other kids who tried out for math club competitive didn't even get a chance.

First, there were only about 80 people, second, they just can't let everyone who wants it to take the MC, that's like letting any 6th grader do algebra...

...which is a perfectly fine idea. Why not test their abilities in the field, instead of a test that has limited chances of being at the same level as the actual contests?

Actually, that was a state level test!
For an argument, why don't you just let everyone become S. Mods, and see how they do...
Plus, you are only allowed to bring 10 people.

tau is just practice i think our school tests are previous state or national tests

What do you think (read the first post above)

You spelled "argument" wrong. :p
I'd say that there's a huge difference, as there can't be too many S. Mods on this forum, while there can be plenty of Math team members.

Since there would be so many, some would get a really low score, and that would lower our team performence, and we might not make it to State! (Only the top 3 teams go to state!)

Temperal

By the way, nice avatar!

I can reveal my score now: 28
16 on sprint, 12 on target
Without the simple mistakes I made, I could have gotten a 34
