I'm not an expert so this is more like a best "best guess". I believe Windows XP (both Home and Pro) require the user to have Administrator rights in order to install software. If you are the Administrator you might find some help at these links:How to Troubleshoot Issues with Reading CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD Discshttp://support.microsoft.com/default...n-us;321641How to Troubleshoot CD-ROM Drive Problems in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/314096/EN-US/Incorrect Function Err Msg When Accessing CD-ROM Drivehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/315350/EN-US/How to Troubleshoot Audio CD Creation in Windows Media Playerhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/306318/EN-US/Resources for Troubleshooting DVD Problems in Windows XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/3080...roubleshooting DVD Playback in Windows Media Player for XPhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/306318/EN-US/And this website might have some additional user forum comments pertaining to your problem:http://www.computerhelparticles.com/...f-12.htmlwwbgd
