 07-30-2007 #1 Henk V Guest   Posts: n/a Probability calculation : two pair in poker (for smartheads)? What is wrong with this reasoning. The chance to have two pair in a hand of 5 cards in poker is :1 x (3/51) x (48/50) x (3/49) x (44/48) x 5!/2!2!The chance in reality is half as high !
 07-30-2007 #2 Bekki B Guest   Posts: n/a Because you double counted.For example, you counted 8s and 4s and also 4s and 8s.Edit: It is irrelevent whether other people are at the table (unless you can see their cards and want to take that into account when calculating your odds). Your odds of drawing a certain card don't change when someone else draws an undetermined card.
