Move the variables to one side and the numbers to the other side.1 - 4x = 9 - 2x add 4x to both sides1 = 9 +2xsubtract 9 from both sides-8 = 2xdivide by 2 to solvex = -4

1-4x=9-2x1) 1=9+2x2) -8=2x3) -4=xIn step one, move the variables to one side of the equation. In step two, move 9 to the other side, leaving 2x by itself. And finally, in step 3, divide both sides by 2 and get the solution of -4.I think this is right, not sure though. Hope this helped!
