Default Math(algebra) 10 points for first right answer?

If x^(p/q), qth root(x^p) and (qth root of x)^p are to be equivalent expressions, where p and q are for positive integers, and if properties of exponentiation are to apply to rational exponents, what must be true about the base x?

x must be positive.x may not have imaginary part.
