I really need help with this equation. The answer needs to be an algebraic equation. I really appreciate any help that you can give me. Thanks!Jamie's bank contains $6.50 in nickels, dimes, and quarters. There are twice as many dimes as nickels and five more quarters than dimes. How many quarters does Jamie have?

N = # of nickels2N = # of dimes (twice as many dimes as nickels)2N + 5 = # of quarters (five more quarters than dimes)Nickels + Dimes + Quarters = 6.50[(.05)*N] + [(.10)*(2N)] + [(.25)*(2N+5)]=6.50 .05N + .20N + .50N + 1.25 = 6.500.75N + 1.25 = 6.50 (subtract 1.25 from both sides) (this line is your equation)0.75N = 5.25 (divide both sides by 0.75)N = 7 (0.35)D = 14 (1.40)Q = 19 (4.75)0.35+1.40+4.75=6.50

1 Nickel = $ 0.05 1 Dime = $ 0.10 1 Quarter = $ 0.25Let x be the number of nickels. The question says that the number of dime is equal to twice as nickels.So, the number of dimes = 2 xAlso, given that the number quarter is five more than dimesSo, number of quarter = 2 x + 5Totally Jamie's bank have $6.50 of combination of all nickel , dime and quarters,Therefore, the expression becomes,(no. of nickels ) * (0.05 ) + (no.of dimes)*(0.10) +(no. of quarters) * (0.25) = $ 6.50That is, x * 0.05 + 2x * 0.10 + (2x+5) * 0.25 = 6.50 0.05x + 0.2 x + 0.5 x + 1.25 = 6.50 0.75 x + 1.25 = 6.50Subtract both sides by 1.25 0.75x + 1.25  1.25 = 6.50  1.25 0.75 x = 6.50  1.25 = 5.25Now, divide both sides by 0.75Implies that, 0.75 x = 5 . 25  0.75 0. 75 x = 7So, Number of nickels = 7Number of dimes = 2x = 2 * 7 = 14Number of quarters = 2x + 5 = 14 + 5 = 19Hence, Nickel = 7 , Dime = 14 , Quarter = 19.=============================================== For more assistance please visit www.classof1.com.Classof1  leading web tutoring and homework help.Toll free  18772527763
