Default CLEP out of College Algebra?

I'm wanting to know something. I am bad at algebra, and nobody at my college, nor people who are "good" at algebra can explain the problems I'm doing in algebra. I studied my **** off just to get placed into College Algebra so I wouldn't have to pay for classes that didn't count anything, I do well on my homework, but not so much on tests. I'm wondering since I basically Cleped out of Intermediate Algebra if it would be wise for me to try it in College Algebra(with proper study materials, etc). Has anyone done it? What does it do to your grade/gpa? thanks
