Math Question, Percent of a school mark? Help asap Plz!?

At my school the final exams are worth 20% of your final mark. If my mark was 58%(prior to the exam), what mark would I have to get on the final exam to pass the class?Can someone please answer the actual question behind this? (Instead of telling me how to do it)

Well basically here's what you can do. Say you get %100 on your test. (100x.20) = 20, add that to your 58% and you'll end up with a 78%. so for a C(70%) you would need to get a 60 on your final exam.

If you get a 16% on your exam, your final grade will be 49.6%, so your teacher will probably round you up to fifty. To ensure passing, I recommend AT LEAST an 18%.EDIT: What is the passing grade where you live? I did my examples assuming you needed 50% to pass.

Ask for extra credit work!It depends on what grade counts as passing, but if you need at least 70% in the class to pass, then you can't pass the class, even if you got a 100% score on the final exam. You'd have to get 118% on the final exam (for 23.6% of your final grade) to get your total grade up to 70%, so I hope your teacher gives lots of extra credit.58% of (80% of your final grade) gives you 46.4% if you get a 0% on your final exam. Multiply your final exam grade by 0.2 and add that number to 46.4, and you'll have your total grade for the class (in percent). Sorry .

Assuming 60% is minimum passing percentage, you would need to get a 68% on the final.To check this, your current 58% is .8 of your total grade, so it "counts" 8 times so, 8x.58=46.4 and the final is 20% so it "counts 2 times, 2x.68=13.6.13.6+46.4= 60%
