Unfortunately, many pre-Columbian documents were destroyed by Spanish missionaries. The amount of knowledge lost is incalculable. I consider this an atrocity.Yes, it is sad how we Westerners like to credit ourselves for (re-) discovering things that were already known for hundred or thousands of years in other cultures
