Can someone tell me what T-statistics is and how to interpret the result obtained from T-statistics. Thanks
 07-30-2007 #2 pencil sharpener woman Guest   Posts: n/a After an estimation of a coefficient, the t-statistic for that coefficient is the ratio of the coefficient to its standard error. That can be tested against a t distribution to determine how probable it is that the true value of the coefficient is really zero.

You compute this statistic by subtracting the hypothesized value from the statistical estimate and then dividing by the estimated standard error. In many, but not all situation, the hypothesized value would be zero.
