 07-24-2007 #1 gloreah Guest   Posts: n/a help on math problem...? Q- A train track rises 70m over a horizontal distance of 1.6km. What is the angle of elevation of the track to the nearest tenth of a degree? Can you show me the calculator sequence needed to solve this problem?thnx! =]

 07-24-2007 #4 andrea y Guest   Posts: n/a think of this as a right triangle. where 70 m is the segment opposite the angle x and 1600 m is the segment adjacent to x. to find x or the angle of elevation:tan (x) = 70/1600 x = tan^-1(70/1600) x = 2.51 degrees
