 07-24-2007 #3 kdesky3 Guest   Posts: n/a I'm not sure about the way you wrote it but I'll do it without the 8 underneith:if x = 4(4+x) 1) Distribute the 4 to get rid of parentheses x = 16+4x2) We want to get x on one side of the equal side by itself so I will subtract 4x from both sides (remember whatever you do to one side of the equal sign, you have to do to the other too) -3x = 163) Divide both sides by -3 to get x by itself x = -16/3
