Let x be the number of years.

36 + x = 2(11 + x)
36 + x = 22 + 2x
36 + x - x = 22 + 2x - x
36 = 22 + x
36 - 22 = 22 - 22 + x
14 = x

So in 14 years Julio will be 50 and James will be 25.

We start at 11 - 36

36/2=18 so,

18 - 36+7 = 18 - 43

43/2=22.5 so,

23 - 43+5 = 23 - 48

48/2=24 so,

24 - 49

49/2= 24.5 so,

25 - 50

Done. In 14 years.

 07-04-2013 #9 james_smith   Join Date: Jul 2013 Posts: 1 The best answer would be: given, James- 11 years Julio- 36 years After some years Julio will be twice the age of James. Julio = 2 * James. consider year wise. first, Left hand side should be always >= to Right Hand Side So, consider the age after 10 years add 10 on both sides: Julio + 10 = 2 * (James + 10) 36 + 10= 2 * (11 + 10) 46 = 42 46 = 42 ( which is not equal to each other) by this u can make out another 4 should be added on both side to make it LHS = RHS 36 + 14 = 2 * (11+14) So after 14 years L.H.S = R.H.S after 14 years the age of Julio will be twice the age of James.

Dear Mr.Hui this question is for you. Although this question is a problem it is not a maths problem. The question is , what age is the game Maths Payne suitable for?
