Use inverse operations to isolate the variable. In this equation, divide both sides of the equation by 0.2.

Divide both sides of the equation by 0.2.

Result =
y = 40

Another possible solution

Multiply both sides of the equation
by five, because you are trying
to get "y."
Result Left Side = 0.2y x5 = y
Result Right Side = 8x5 = 40
y=40
