Default need some tips on an assignment...

i posted this on the wrong thread so i'll post it here...hehehe sorry

okay i need to solve this for our class... but i don't want the answer (even if i badly need it hehehe ) i need tips and hints so i can answer it... i'm really bad at word probs so all your help will be appreciated much!!!

In a long distance race covering 42km. one runner finished 12 min before another runner. If the faster runner's rate was 1km/hr more than the slower runner's, what were their rates?...
