I once had a college roommate who told me, "statistics are for losers" when I was trying to make a point using them. I didn't think her argument held water. Satistics are crafty little things that you can use to either prove or disprove just about anything, which I have... In fact, 95% say go for it!

If "4 out of 5 dentists recommend" it. Is that a lot?A lake has an average depth of one foot. Can you drown in it? It is 99 percent certain that you will not be hit by a bus today. If that's so why are ther so many people who have died after being hit by buses? The vocabulary of modern life is inundated with statistics. It is in our speech. It is in our writing. It is in our music. If you don't understand the language you use everyday, how can you expect to be able to navigate life?
