there are thousands of times in everyday life that you will need to know basic algebra, if you don't you'll look and feel very **** at the times when you need it.Plus, there are many jobs that require basic math skills, including algebra as a requirement. Many companies require all employees to pass a math test before they are hired, regardless of their position in the company.

but you use the concept of problem solving all the time..in alot of jobs you are faced with knowing some things while needing to figure the rest out for yourself..so will you do math problems in most jobs..not likely but you will use the same skills all the time..

it seems pointless.. but its really the basis of all math..depending on what carreer you are looking into you will more likely need algerbra for most construction type of jobs, landscaping jobs, any thing in the science or health fields requires some knowledge of algerbra

I think in math terms so I use it all the time. However I recognize that not all people do. The main reason you should be taking algebra is so you do not limit yourself. Do you really want to limit your future because of a decision you have to make at age 12 - to take algebra or not? All sciences rely on mathematics, any field if work dealing with sciences, mathematics, engineering, medicine etc rely on students having the basics. I myself as an adult have never had to discuss Shakespeare as an official part of my job, but I can. A good well rounded education makes you an attractive adult to employers.good luck~! (I hope you stick with it, because once you get over the initial formula stage, it really is a fast and elegant way of thinking through problems)

There are two reasons why schools teach algebra. First, because it is needed for a whole lot of important jobs. You can't really complete training for any jobin health sciences, in science, in engineering, or in business above the peon level without being able to solve algebra type problems. And, second, algebra is the first course that people take that really separates out smart from ****, hard working from lazy. There are plenty of kids who don't like algebra and may never use it, but they are smart enough to do it anyway, and determined enough to succeed so that they work at it and get it right. Getting a decent grade in algebra is like getting a medal that says "I'm smart and not afraid of hard work."The colleges want to see that when you apply. If you get a bad mark in algebra, even if you are going to major in English or History, it is a red flag warning the good colleges that you probably won't fit in there. So, whether you like it or not, work at it and get a decent grade. Then you can forget about it later if you don't need it. But you might be surprised at how often it comes in handy!Good luck with your future anyway!
