For each of those positions i have to use the position function to calculate the times. My original times were .56,.61,.87. The books position function is s(t)=-16t(squared)+initial velocity(in ft)+original height. I also have to verify this algebraically. Can someone please help me? 08-04-2007 #3 FEELIP Guest   Posts: n/a neither do i..lol ... that is the formula my book has " the position function for a free falling object near earth's surface" unless there is a different position function that i am supposed to be using

yes the time it take to hit the ground

So the position function is: $s(t)=-16{t^2}+12=0$ $16{t^2}=12$ $t^2=0.75$ $t=\sqrt[2]0.75$ $t\approx0.87$ Conclusion: Your answer is correct. __________________ Do Math and you can do Anything!
