Default Why do I struggle in algebra but do well in statistics?

I can do arithmatic fine, and I can do statistics. Pre-algebra is easier for me too. But when it comes to, say, algebra 1, I struggle, fight, curse, and scream, and I get frustrated because algebra seems like a foreign language that I can never get. The best grades I could get in Algebra 1 and 2 (elementary and intermediate) were C's. In statistics, I got a B+. How can I understand statistics, which uses algebraic formulas and some Greek symbols, but I can't understand algebra?
